Smoked salmon, cucumber and mustard sandwich:a quick and easy dinner

The salmon, cucumber and mustard sandwich has a perfect combination of flavors and, we could say, with a lot of character. It is a combination that you either adore or hate, since its ingredients are, without a doubt, of a strong and particular flavor. What side are you on?

This is an obviously Nordic-inspired sandwich, a place where the combination of salmon with cucumber is present in many of its recipes. If we add to this a dense rye bread with many seeds, like the one we have used for our recipe, we already have it complete. Like any sandwich or sandwich, we can modify it and adapt it to our tastes or do it with what we have in the fridge; marinating the cucumber with vinegar, using pickled gherkins instead of the fresh cucumber, putting spreadable cream cheese or mayonnaise mixed with the mustard and some aromatic herbs such as dill or chives.

Do it as you like, but even with only its three ingredients, as we told you, it is simply delicious.

How to make the smoked salmon, cucumber and mustard sandwich

We weigh and measure all the ingredients of the recipe and start preparing the cucumber. Cut it into slices, put it in a strainer and add a pinch of fine salt. Mix the cucumber well with the salt and let it rest for about 10 minutes so that it releases the excess water.

Once the time has passed, we place it on top of a kitchen cloth or absorbent paper, we dry it well and we reserve it.

Separately, we cut four slices of bread and we spread the mustard over them, more or less depending on the tastes of the diners. In this case we have used a homemade mustard that, although it was quite strong, gave it a really spectacular flavor and contrast.

Place the smoked salmon on one of the slices and the cucumber slices on the other.

We put one on top of the other leaving both ingredients in the center and form the sandwich.

A green tea could be the ideal accompaniment for this sandwich, which despite its consistency, once finished will leave us wanting to eat the next one.
